Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic will hold a combined convocation ceremony covering graduates from 2007 to 2026, ending a 19-year break in the institution’s convocation activities.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Aminu Kado Doro, disclosed this while defending the institution’s budget during the state’s pre-budget defence session on Thursday.
He said the institution had been unable to hold a convocation ceremony for graduating students since 2007, adding that preparations were now in top gear to ensure a successful event.
According to the rector, the Katsina State Government has completed the construction of the institution’s convocation arena, while the Polytechnic is making the necessary arrangements for the ceremony.
Dr. Kado Doro also revealed that the state government has approved N57 million for the construction of two solar-powered boreholes to address the persistent water shortage affecting the institution.
He expressed confidence that the project would provide a lasting solution to the water supply challenges that staff and students have faced for years.
The rector further disclosed that the Polytechnic has concluded arrangements for the accreditation of 28 academic programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
He noted that the institution secured accreditation for 29 programmes last year, describing the development as part of ongoing efforts to improve academic standards and enhance the quality of technical education.
