The Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT), Kano State Chapter, has inaugurated its new leadership for the 2026/2027 financial year, with the newly inaugurated State Coordinator, Aishatu Salisu, Esq., LL.M., ACTI, pledging to strengthen professionalism, capacity building, unity and strategic collaboration among women in the taxation profession.
Speaking at the investiture ceremony, Salisu said her administration would prioritise creating an enabling environment where women in taxation could continuously learn, develop professionally and build effective networks.
She noted that the rapidly changing tax landscape, driven by digitalisation, technology, evolving business models and international tax developments, made continuous professional development essential for tax practitioners.
She also pledged to strengthen collaboration between SWIT Kano and tax authorities, government ministries, departments and agencies, professional associations, educational institutions, women-focused organisations and the private sector.
According to her, bringing experienced tax practitioners, legal practitioners, tax administrators, academics and entrepreneurs together would promote knowledge sharing and provide practical solutions to emerging challenges in the profession.
Also speaking, the Vice State Coordinator and Chairperson of the Investiture Planning Committee, Hanatu Jibril, FCTI, welcomed members, distinguished guests and professional colleagues to the ceremony.
She described the occasion as a celebration of leadership, continuity and the growing contribution of women in taxation to national development.
Jibril reaffirmed SWIT’s commitment to promoting tax professionalism, compliance, best practices and collaboration in support of Nigeria’s development.
She particularly commended the National Chairperson of SWIT, Dr Caroline Ndubuisi, PhD, FCTI, for her continued support and commitment to championing women in taxation across the country.
She also appreciated the immediate past Kano State Coordinator, Hajiya Maryam Yahaya Fagge, for her exemplary leadership, dedication and sacrifice, noting that her tenure helped strengthen the unity, visibility and service of SWIT Kano while laying a solid foundation for the new administration.
In her farewell remarks, Fagge urged members to sustain the values of unity, integrity, inclusiveness and professional excellence beyond her tenure.
She congratulated the incoming coordinator and her executive team, urging them to build on the achievements recorded, embrace new ideas, listen to members and lead with integrity, courage, compassion and commitment.
She also encouraged younger members, particularly women, to take advantage of opportunities for leadership and professional development.
The new leadership assured members that consultation, participation and diversity of opinion would remain central to its administration, while calling on members to contribute their ideas, expertise and constructive criticism.
Salisu described unity as the greatest strength of SWIT Kano, while Fagge emphasised that leadership was not about the position held but the positive difference made in the lives of others.
The ceremony marked not only a change of leadership but also a renewed commitment to taking SWIT Kano to greater heights through professionalism, teamwork and purposeful service.
