Dr. Yusuf, who was unable to attend the occasion, was ably represented by the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Zahraddeen, who received the award on his behalf.
The recognition followed the recent renovation and improvement of the health post through the intervention of KHETFUND.
“The project demonstrates the commitment of the Kano State Government and KHETFUND to strengthening healthcare facilities at the grassroots and improving access to quality and affordable healthcare services,” said a statement made available to The Triumph in Kano.
During the appreciation visit, it said, Dr. Zahraddeen called on residents to make optimal use of the renovated facility and take collective responsibility for protecting it from vandalism, misuse and neglect.
She emphasised that the sustainability of the intervention depends greatly on community ownership and responsible utilisation.
She noted that supporting the renovation and strengthening of healthcare facilities falls within the mandate of KHETFUND and forms part of the fund’s commitment to developing a sustainable healthcare financing system and improving healthcare services for residents of the state.
The Executive Secretary also commended Malam Abubakar Umar Muhammad, who served as a member of the implementation committee, for his dedication, diligence and commitment to ensuring that the intervention was properly monitored and implemented to a high standard.
His inclusion among the award recipients by the community elders, she noted, reflects their appreciation of the important role played by the implementation team in translating the intervention from planning into a tangible healthcare facility that directly benefits residents.
Dr. Zahraddeen further encouraged other staff of KHETFUND to emulate such professionalism, integrity, dedication and commitment to duty.
She stressed that effective healthcare interventions require teamwork, accountability, proper monitoring and strong engagement with beneficiary communities.
She also charged the healthcare workers at the facility to maintain cleanliness, ensure proper utilisation of the equipment and protect the facility so that it can continue to provide essential healthcare services to the community.
Speaking on behalf of the community delegation, the Officer-in-Charge of the health facility, Malama Mabaruka Muhammad Auwal, expressed appreciation to the state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf and the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr.
