The Ahbab Rasulullah Organization in Calabar, Cross River State, on Tuesday visited the General Hospital Calabar as part of activities marking the Maulud celebration.
The delegation, led by philanthropist Alhaji Sha’aban Abdullahi under the guidance of Dan Malikin Hausa Quarters and Chairman of Asbabu Rasulullah Association, Alhaji Adamu Idris Zaria, was taken on a tour of the male and female wards.
Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Alhaji Adamu Idris Zaria said the initiative was inspired by Islamic teachings on showing love, compassion and support to fellow Muslims and neighbours, particularly during the month of Rabi’ul Awwal, which marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
He said the organization had made it an annual tradition to visit less-privileged and sick people during the Maulud period and provide them with financial assistance to help them purchase medicines.
According to him, the gesture was also aimed at promoting unity and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Cross River State.
Zaria urged Muslims to emulate the Prophet Muhammad’s kindness and concern for others by supporting their neighbours and the less privileged.
“If your neighbour’s child drops out of school, support the child just as you would support your own children,” he advised.
The women’s wing of Asbabu Rasulullah, led by Hajiya Hafsat Muhammad Abba, also visited the female ward, where cash donations were presented to sick patients.
She encouraged women to regularly visit and support people who are sick.
The Chief Medical Officer of General Hospital Calabar, Dr. Tekim, appreciated the organization for its generosity and commended its efforts to support patients in need.
