The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the state’s Fire Service and enhancing its capacity to respond effectively to emergencies, save lives and protect property.
The Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, disclosed this when she met with the management of the Kano State Fire Service to discuss strategies for improving operational efficiency, staff welfare and institutional development.
The meeting focused on key issues affecting the effective discharge of the Fire Service’s responsibilities, including operational challenges and ways to improve the quality of services provided to residents.
Hajiya Bilkisu stressed the importance of adequately motivating personnel and providing them with the necessary support and conducive working conditions to enable them to perform their duties effectively.
She noted that the welfare of civil servants remains a priority of the Kano State Government as part of efforts to build an efficient, responsive and result-oriented public service.
The Head of Service also emphasised the need for continuous improvement in service delivery, professionalism, discipline and effective coordination among government institutions, particularly agencies responsible for protecting lives and property.
She said strengthening the Fire Service was essential to ensuring timely and effective responses to emergencies, adding that the challenges facing the agency required practical and sustainable solutions.
Hajiya Bilkisu assured the Fire Service management of the continued support of the Kano State Government, through the Office of the Head of Service, for initiatives aimed at improving working conditions, strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing emergency response services across the state.
She further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustained engagement with its agencies to address institutional challenges, improve staff welfare and promote better service delivery across the Kano State Civil Service.
Those in attendance included the Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Alhaji Abba Danguguwa; Permanent Secretary, Human Resources and Service Improvements Directorate, Alhaji Sabiu Shuaibu; directors from the Office of the Head of Service; and members of the management of the Kano State Fire Service.
