From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command on Monday arraigned six youths before the Chief Magistrate Court in Tambuwal over alleged incitement of public disturbance.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, disclosed this to our correspondent in Sokoto during a telephone interview.
According to Rufai, the suspects are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance and mischief.
He said the suspects were arrested following a violent protest in Tambuwal town on Friday by some youths over alleged insecurity and the high cost of living.
Rufai added that the suspects were also accused of setting fire to the office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal town, as well as other public and private properties.
The Police spokesperson said the command would ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full force of the law.
He also warned youths against taking the law into their own hands.
