Northern leaders under the umbrella of the Arewa Consultative Forum have condemned the bomb attack on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, describing it as a tragic reminder that terrorism remains a serious threat in the country.

The forum said it received the news of the attack, which occurred on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, with deep sadness.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF said it “regrets and condemns the attack in unequivocal terms.”

“We mourn the dead and pray for the peaceful repose of their souls. We commiserate with the injured and wish them a quick return to health in the shortest time possible,” the statement read.

The forum extended its condolences to the families of those killed and sympathised with the injured, while also condoling with the Government and people of Borno State and Nigerians at large.

According to the ACF, the attack is a grim reminder that the scourge of terrorism and insecurity is yet to be fully tamed or brought under control in the country.

The group recalled its Christmas message, stressing that the fight against insecurity must be taken to “the merchants of terror with all the vigour that the problem deserves.”

“It is utterly inconceivable that the country will be allowed to be brought to its knees. This is totally unacceptable,” Muhammad-Baba said.

The ACF urged citizens to remain vigilant at all times, particularly in places where people gather such as mosques, churches, markets and social events.

It warned that criminal elements, whether foreign or domestic, must not be allowed to claim victory over peace and normalcy in the country.
