The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has held its North-West zonal town hall meeting in Katsina as part of its consultations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, held in Katsina, brought together party officials, candidates and supporters from the seven states of the North-West.
Speaking at the event, the APM presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, said the town hall was organised to strengthen party unity, engage candidates and supporters, and discuss strategies ahead of the 2027 election.
Makinde commended the large turnout of party supporters, saying it demonstrated the level of support for the APM in the North-West.
He said the party’s proposed “Reset Nigeria” agenda would focus on addressing insecurity, economic challenges, education and institutional reforms.
The APM presidential candidate said the party was concerned about insecurity and poverty in the North, adding that its proposed policies would focus on building an economy that creates opportunities and improving education and governance.
He also disputed a claim by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, regarding Federal Government funding for the upgrade of the Ladoke Akintola Airport in Oyo State.
Makinde described the claim that the Federal Government provided N50 billion for the project as inaccurate, insisting that the airport upgrade was being financed by the Oyo State Government.
Makinde had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, and participated in activities within the Katsina metropolitan area.
In his remarks, the APM Vice-Presidential Candidate and former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, called on Nigerians to support the party’s agenda ahead of the 2027 election.
Daura said the APM would seek to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges if elected, adding that the party was committed to what he described as systematic national restoration.
He further said the Makinde-Daura ticket offered Nigerians an alternative political platform focused on addressing the country’s major challenges.
