A non-governmental organization known as Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) has distributed relief items to the expected mothers as part of plans to foster maternal healthcare in Kumbotso LGA of the state.

The donation was held at Ahmad Ado Bayero Model Primary Healthcare Center (PHC), Yan Shana, a town in Kumbotso LGA, in the state metropolis.

Our correspondent reports that not fewer than 50 pregnant women enjoyed the support encouraging them to prioritize their health and attend antenatal check-ups regularly.

Speaking to the Triumph correspondent the Assistant Officer-in-Charge of Bayero Model PHC, Model Mohammed Shehu noted that donating the relief items comes with a lot of blessings.

In his remark, the Senior Programs Officer of CHRICED, Omoniyi Adeoye said antenatal care plays a pivotal role in monitoring the health of pregnant women, identifying potential complications early, and providing essential medical interventions to ensure safe childbirth.

A cross-section of the Almajiri students benefited from the distribution.

He noted that by incentivizing attendance to antenatal services, CHRICED aims to promote maternal health and reduce maternal mortality rates in Kumbotso and beyond.

Earlier, Hadiza Bala, a representative of the Women’s Peace and Security Network emphasized that the donation of relief items not only serves to enhance access to antenatal care but also empowers women by alleviating some of the economic burdens associated with pregnancy.

She added that CHRICED seeks to uplift women in Kumbotso, by enabling them to prioritize their health and that of their unborn children.

One of the beneficiaries, Aisha Mohammed expressed her gratitude to CHRICED for the support shown to her and her unborn child.

She said the support has encouraged her to keep coming for antenatal care in the PHC before she gives birth to her child.

“When I get back to my neighbourhood, I will equally encourage my friends that are pregnant to keep coming to the hospital for antenatal care because it is a veil for them,” She said.

Items distributed to the women include Wrappers, Detergent, Diapers, and Date Fruit.

As CHRICED continues its advocacy efforts in the field of healthcare and human rights, it reinforces the importance of collective action in addressing pressing social issues and fostering positive change within communities.
