From Ahmad Ibrahim, Gusau
The Zamfara State Project Coordinator for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Additional Financing (AGILE AF), Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau, has praised Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal (Gamjin Zamfara) for declaring a state of emergency on education. She described the governor’s initiative as a “unique transformation agenda” aimed at restoring the lost glory of the Northern region’s education sector.
Hajiya Saadatu commended the governor’s bold steps to address the long-standing neglect of public schools and emphasized the need for other Northern governors to follow suit. She expressed satisfaction with the renewed strategy to make education accessible to all school-age children in Zamfara and appealed for special attention to be given to girls and out-of-school children.
As the Coordinator of AGILE, Hajiya Saadatu thanked Governor Dr. Dauda for his steadfast support of the AGILE project in the state, including compliance with World Bank standards for the project inception, endorsement of aligned AGILE project policies, and the provision of an enabling environment for the smooth operations of the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU).
She emphasized the project’s commitment to supporting state government. “We look forward to working closely with Governor Dr. Dauda and Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, to advance AGILE initiatives for the empowerment and education of adolescent girls in the state.
Together, we can create a brighter and more inclusive future for our secondary school students,” she added.
The AGILE Project Coordinator highlighted the importance of fostering partnerships between the government, non-governmental organizations, developmental partners private and corporate bodies to address critical issues affecting the state. She expressed confidence that Governor Dr. Dauda’s leadership would usher in a period of progress and prosperity for Zamfara State.
Hajiya Saadatu further wished the governor and his deputy a successful and impactful tenure, assuring them of AGILE’s continued support in their efforts to uplift the people of Zamfara State.
