From Joseph Asegba, Yola
In the just concluded Edo gubernatorial election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the governorship election alleged full of manipulation.
This is contained in a statement condemning the alleged manipulation of the Edo Governorship Election held on September 21, 2024.
The chapter claims that the election results presented by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, clearly indicate that PDP candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo garnered the highest votes.
Disclosed by the State Chairman of PDP, Barrister Tahir Shehu during a Press Conference in Yola, that Adamawa PDP strongly denounces the alleged desperation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which they claim employed violent manipulation to subvert the wishes of the Edo people.
They believe that this act will deepen voter apathy and undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.
Shehu accordingly said, that the chapter therefore aligns with the position of Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum and the PDP Governors’ Forum, chaired by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, that the Edo Governorship election was compromised.
The PDP Chairman also announced that the Adamawa PDP supports the appointment of Sen. Umar Iliya Damagum, Deputy National Chairman (Northern Zone), to serve out the tenure of the former National Chairman, citing Section 47 (6) of the PDP constitution.
