The Yobe State Government said it had received a donation of over 90,000 bags of grains from the Federal Government since March 2023.
Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr Muhammed Goje, stated this in an interview with the Newsmen in Damaturu.
Dr Goje said that the donation was part of the government’s efforts to cushion hardship in the state at large.
He listed the grains to include: 30,000 bags of rice and 60,000 bags of sorghum and maize respectively.
Dr Goje commended the federal government for its continuous support of the state government’s efforts toward alleviating poverty in the state.
“According to him, the state government has been working tirelessly to provide support to its citizens and the federal government’s donation is a welcome addition to these efforts,” Goje said.
The SEMA Secretary said that the grains had since been distributed to the poorest of the poor across the 17 local government areas of the state accordingly.
