The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, has commended the Kano State Hisbah Board for its efforts in promoting moral values and combating social vices across the state.
Garo gave the commendation on Monday while receiving members of the board during a courtesy visit to his office in Kano.
He said the visit reflected the commitment of the board towards supporting the development and progress of Kano State.
“This visit today shows the readiness of the Hisbah Board to combat issues disturbing communities, and all the necessary support will be given to the board to sustain its tempo,” Garo said.
The deputy governor also assured the board of the state government’s continued collaboration in addressing some of its challenges and requests.
According to him, the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to strengthening institutions that promote peace, morality and social stability in the state.
Earlier, the Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, congratulated Garo on his emergence as deputy governor and described him as a longstanding supporter of the board.
“We can recall in the past that when you were a local government chairman, the Hisbah command under your local government stood out as a result of the care and support it received from you,” Daurawa said.
He also prayed for continued unity between Garo and Governor Yusuf, noting that such cooperation was necessary for the development of Kano State.
Daurawa further highlighted some of the board’s requests, including the establishment of a Hisbah training school, salary increment for personnel, change of uniforms, construction of a befitting headquarters, provision of additional operational vehicles and increased overhead funding.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Shehi Shehi Mai-Hula, congratulated the deputy governor on his new role.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has indeed placed a round peg in a round hole,” he said.
Mai-Hula also prayed for divine guidance and protection for the Kano State Government and the people of the state.
