Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has distributed seven buses to state-owned tertiary institutions to enhance transportation and support the smooth conduct of academic activities.
The presentation ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, where the Governor urged the benefiting institutions to make judicious use of the buses and ensure their proper maintenance.
Governor Idris said the gesture was part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education and improving the welfare and operational capacity of institutions across the state.
“As a teacher, I must support my own constituency. This is part of the promises I made, and I am pleased to have fulfilled it,” the Governor said.
He explained that the provision of the buses was aimed at improving mobility, streamlining the activities of the institutions and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, commended Governor Idris for fulfilling his promise and providing the buses.
He assured the Governor that the vehicles would be used strictly for their intended purposes and properly maintained.
The Commissioner also praised the Governor for his continued support for the Ministry of Higher Education and the state’s tertiary institutions, noting that the administration had demonstrated strong commitment to the development of tertiary education in Kebbi State.
The seven benefiting institutions are:
Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu
Kauran Gwandu College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences, Ambursa
College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega
Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero
College of Advanced and Legal Studies, Yauri
College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi
Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari
