Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, on the first anniversary of his passing, describing him as a symbol of integrity, discipline and selfless service whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda said that although one year has passed since Buhari’s death, his memory remains deeply cherished by millions of Nigerians who admired his honesty, accountability and unwavering commitment to national service.
The governor described the late President as one of Nigeria’s most respected leaders, whose dedication to national unity, good governance and development left an enduring imprint on the country’s history.
“Buhari was one of our most beloved leaders and one of Katsina State’s greatest sons. Though he is no longer with us, his values of integrity, discipline, simplicity and patriotism continue to speak for him,” Radda said.
He noted that Buhari served Nigeria with distinction at various stages of his life—as a military officer, Head of State and later as a democratically elected President—always placing the nation’s interest above personal gain.
Governor Radda said the people of Katsina State remain proud of Buhari’s immense contributions to national development and his unwavering dedication to public service.
He urged Nigerians, particularly the younger generation, to honour the late President’s memory by embracing honesty, hard work, selflessness and love for the country.
The governor also called on citizens to continue praying for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul, describing prayers as the most meaningful way to preserve his memory.
He further prayed for Allah to forgive the late former President, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family, the people of Katsina State and Nigerians at large.
