Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched a strategic grassroots mobilisation campaign to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party will build its victory from the polling unit level.
The governor said the APC was intensifying grassroots engagement to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ensure victory for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 polls.
The disclosure was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf made the remarks during an interactive session with the leadership and members of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as ‘Yan Akwatina, led by Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati.
The association has structures in all 44 local government areas, 484 wards and across polling units in Kano State, making it one of the APC’s largest grassroots mobilisation platforms.
The governor said President Tinubu’s re-election would provide an opportunity to consolidate the administration’s economic reforms and infrastructure development initiatives, adding that sustained grassroots mobilisation would further strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects.
To support the association’s activities, Governor Yusuf announced the donation of plots of land and a cash grant of N100 million.
Earlier, the Governor’s Political Adviser, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the engagement as the beginning of the party’s comprehensive grassroots mobilisation strategy for the 2027 elections.
He said the Polling Unit Supporters Association alone has the capacity to mobilise at least 1,122,200 votes for President Tinubu in the next presidential election.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati commended Governor Yusuf for appointing members of the group into positions at both the state and local government levels.
He pledged the association’s commitment to delivering overwhelming victories for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Kano State, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, expressed confidence that the party would record a landslide victory, saying Governor Yusuf’s achievements had significantly strengthened the APC’s position across the state while weakening the opposition.
