A non-governmental organisation, Gwagware Foundation has distributed over 100 bags of rice to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and physically challenged persons I Katsina State.
The Chairman of the foundation, Yusuf Ali Musawa, who distributed the rice, said the assistance is to alleviate the suffering of the beneficiaries.
He said the distribution of the food items was one of the designed programmes of the foundation to assist less privileged individuals.
His words: “We will continue to. make intervention to alleviate the suffering of less privileged people.”
Musawa recalled that recently, the foundation unveiled programmes for assistance to widows and other categories of people, especially those in need of assistance.
He commended Minister of Housing, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, for providing the bags of rice for distribution.
Speaking earlier, Special Assistance on Physically Challenged Persons, Hudu Usman commended the foundation for the assistance and called on beneficiaries to make good use of the food items.
One of the beneficiaries, Abdullahi Ibrahim, noted that the assistance would alleviate their suffering.
