A non-governmental and non-profit organisation, Haske Support Foundation (HSF), has carried out a health awareness and empowerment outreach programme for lactating mothers and adolescent girls in Yakanaji Community, Jos, Plateau State.
In a statement made available to journalists, the South-South Coordinator of the foundation, Hon. Anas Murtala Ahmad, said the initiative was part of the organisation’s commitment to community development and humanitarian service.
According to him, the outreach, spearheaded by the founder and leader of the foundation, Hajiya Maryam Shehu Nabage, popularly known as Uwar Marayu, brought together mothers and adolescent girls for an interactive session focused on personal hygiene, menstrual health management, self-care, and family values.
“The programme aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and guidance that would enable them to maintain healthy lifestyles and make informed decisions regarding their well-being,” Ahmad stated.
He explained that lactating mothers were educated on the crucial role they play in nurturing children with strong moral values, discipline, and good character, while adolescent girls received guidance on menstrual hygiene, body care, self-respect, and the importance of protecting their dignity and future aspirations.
As part of the intervention, sanitary pads were distributed to young girls to promote proper menstrual hygiene and help them manage their monthly cycles with confidence and dignity.
Selected mothers also received food items to support their households and cushion the effects of prevailing economic challenges.
Ahmad noted that the outreach further demonstrated the unwavering dedication of Haske Support Foundation to improving the lives of women, children, orphans, widows, and other vulnerable members of society.
He added that the foundation remains actively involved in various humanitarian initiatives, including educational support programmes, payment of school fees for orphans and underprivileged children, distribution of learning materials, and community empowerment projects.
Beneficiaries of the outreach commended the foundation for its efforts and offered prayers for its continued success.
They prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to bless Haske Support Foundation and its leadership with wisdom, strength, good health, and the resources needed to sustain its impactful humanitarian activities for the benefit of humanity.
