The former member of the House of Representatives representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Hon. Mahmoud Baba Bichi, has introduced himself to Kano State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) aspiring for the seat of Kano North Senatorial District.
Hon. Bichi, while introducong himself to the chapter of the party, said, he was there to inform the party above intension to contest as Senator to represent the District in 2027 general election.
He said, he had already bought an expression of intention and nomination form at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja in compliance with the nation’s electoral guidelines.
He said, he would have informed the state chapter of the party earlier, but due to the deadline given to all aspirants, he decided to meet the national headquarter first and submit his form with a view to meeting the deadline.
Hon. Bichi said he remains loyal to the party as far as the contest was concerned.
He requested the state secretarial of the party to consider his aspiration with utmost importance in view of the fact that the District producing a Senator from a particular local government area several without allowing others the chance to do so should be looked into.
He notified the party secretarial that Bichi, Dawakin Tofa and Dambatta, for example, have never produced a Senator to represent the District at the red chamber.
According to him, it is high time now to field a candidate to represent the District from elsewhere rather than Kabo or Gwarzo alone.
“This time around it should come from other local governments not Kabo or Gwarzo,” he said.
Responding to the Senatorial aspirant, the state chairman of the party, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, represented by the state secretary of the party, Prof. Yusuf Muhammad Sabo, expressed delight with the effort of Senatorial aspirant in informing the party about his willingness to contest for the seat.
He then promised that justice would be done to all aspirants under the party.
