Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe has regretted the damage caused by the recent nationwide hunger protests, especially in Northern states.
He said states in the North are” worst hit areas with killings and destruction of properties.
Jobe spoke at a reception organised by a committee of friends in honour of the appointed state Head of Service, Falalu Bawale.
He cited the examples of looting and vandalism of the North West office of the Nigerian Communication Commission based in Kano.
According to him, the looting and destruction of the office was great damage to the entire North.
He said the report indicates that there was no destruction of properties or killings in Southeast and South-South states.
“The eastern part ignored call to join the protest. The people of the area obeyed the directives of their leaders,” he said.
Jobe said the North should learn a lesson from the outcome of the protest and design a way for a sustainable future and development of the region.
He charged leaders at various levels and people to work for the overall interest of the region.
Earlier, Falalu thanked the organisers of the reception and assured them not to disappoint them.
Falalu commended the state government for its reform to sanitise state civil service.ln speech chairman committee of friends, Mahammed Bujawa, described Falalu as an honest and dedicated Civil servant, saying the appointment is well deserved.
