Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has declared that his administration owes no contractor handling government projects in the state, warning that delays in project execution will no longer be tolerated.
The governor challenged any contractor claiming to be owed by the state government to come forward with evidence, stressing that his administration has consistently met its financial obligations to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
Fintiri made the declaration while leading a government delegation on an inspection tour of the ongoing construction of the Adamawa State Ultra-Modern Stadium and the new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp.
He explained that the inspection was aimed at assessing the progress and quality of work, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing all major capital projects before the expiration of its tenure.
According to the governor, prompt payment to contractors has eliminated unnecessary delays and ensured uninterrupted project execution.
He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at both project sites but directed contractors to maintain the momentum and complete the projects before the September deadline.
Fintiri warned that his administration would not tolerate avoidable delays, insisting that every contractor must comply with the terms of their contract and deliver projects that meet the required specifications.
During the inspection, contractors and project engineers took the governor round various sections of the stadium and the NYSC orientation camp, assuring him that construction was progressing steadily and would be completed within the agreed timeframe.
Addressing journalists after the inspection, Governor Fintiri said his administration is determined to leave behind a legacy of modern infrastructure that will improve the welfare of the people and accelerate the socio-economic development of Adamawa State.
He noted that the ultra-modern stadium would promote sports development, youth engagement and talent discovery, while the permanent NYSC orientation camp would provide a conducive environment for the training and welfare of corps members posted to the state.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent management of public resources, transparency, accountability and the delivery of projects that will have a lasting impact on the lives of Adamawa residents.
Governor Fintiri was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta; the Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday; the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Auwal Tukur; and other senior government officials.
