The nexus between peace and unity in driving economic development has once again been emphasized. Silas Agara, the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), highlighted this during a congratulatory visit from the leadership of JIBWIS and CAN Nasarawa Chapter at his residence in Akwanga.
Agara stressed that the primary objective of every government is to protect the lives and property of its citizens, a goal that can only be achieved if religious leaders play a complementary role in sensitizing their followers against negative tendencies.
He noted that Nasarawa State is blessed with abundant human and mineral resources, and the present administration is focusing on leveraging these resources to create job opportunities for the youth.
Commending the resilience and enthusiasm of JIBWIS and CAN in promoting peace,
Agara urged religious institutions in the state to continue preaching messages of tolerance, peace, and unity as advocated in the holy scriptures, emphasizing that peace is essential for meaningful development.
Addressing the recent nationwide protests, Agara expressed optimism that despite the current challenges facing the country, religious organizations must stand firm in cautioning their followers about the consequences of protests.
He assured them of the equitable development initiatives being pursued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In their remarks, Ustaz Yahaya Abdullahi Muhammad, the state chairman of JIBWIS, and Rev. Hannaniah Zam, Chairman of ECWA DCC Akwanga Local Government, congratulated Agara on his appointment.
They urged him to lead with the fear of God and reminded him of the high expectations the people of Nasarawa State have for his tenure, hoping it will usher in significant development.
In addition, Agara also received visits from the sons and daughters of Mada land, women’s organizations, and the Gudi Elders Forum, who also congratulated him on his appointment.
