Youths from the 44 local government areas of Kano State have commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for allocating plots of land to them as part of efforts to empower young people in the state.
The youths expressed their appreciation on Thursday when they visited the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, in his office, describing the gesture as a significant step towards improving their economic prospects.
Speaking while receiving the delegation, Garo said the allocation was carried out in line with established procedures, assuring youths who were yet to benefit that they would be considered in subsequent phases.
“The exercise was conducted in strict adherence to established procedures. Those yet to benefit should exercise patience and be assured that they will be included in subsequent allocations,” the deputy governor said.
He added that the Yusuf administration remained committed to ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries were accommodated.

The deputy governor also cautioned beneficiaries against selling the allocated land, urging them to use it for the purpose for which it was provided.
He said he would convey the youths’ appreciation to the governor, whom he commended for prioritising youth development.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Salman Rabiu Gwarzo, said they visited Garo to appreciate the governor for the land allocation and the deputy governor for facilitating the process.
“We are here to express our appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf through the Deputy Governor for this important gesture to the youths of Kano,” Gwarzo said.
He said members of the old APC had contributed significantly to the growth of the party across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Gwarzo recalled that Yusuf had continued to recognise members of the old APC, beginning with councillors and extending the gesture to youths who contributed to strengthening the party at the grassroots.
He also appreciated Garo for facilitating the allocation, noting that a significant number of beneficiaries received plots in the Dawanau and Panisau layout areas.
“The land allocation has given many young people a sense of belonging and an opportunity to plan for their future,” Gwarzo added.
