The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has commended the Community Reorientation Council for its contributions to school feeding programmes, education, healthcare and other community development initiatives across the state.
Garo gave the commendation on Thursday while receiving leaders of the council from the 44 local government areas of the state, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office to congratulate him on his emergence as deputy governor and to extend Eid-el-Kabir greetings.
The deputy governor described the council as an important grassroots structure that complements government efforts in delivering social services and improving the welfare of residents.
According to him, the CRC has continued to play significant roles in school feeding programmes, renovation of schools, support for early childhood education, rehabilitation of hospitals and implementation of water projects across communities.
“I appreciate this visit and the opportunity to meet with old partners. I recognise your efforts in feeding programmes, school renovations, support for early childhood education, rehabilitation of hospitals, water projects and other community development initiatives,” Garo said.
He added, “Your contributions have positively impacted many communities across Kano State. The government appreciates these sacrifices and the support you continue to provide in improving the lives of our people.”
The deputy governor assured the delegation that issues raised during the visit would be communicated to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for necessary action.
“I want to assure you that your concerns will be conveyed to His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The state government appreciates your contributions and will continue to explore ways of supporting your activities,” he said.
Garo expressed confidence that the council would sustain its intervention programmes and continue to support community development efforts across the state.
“I am confident that you will continue these sacrifices, which will not go unnoticed throughout Kano State. Together, we can achieve more for our communities and improve the wellbeing of our people,” he added.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the CRC, Alhaji Shakoor Yassar, said the delegation visited the deputy governor to congratulate him on his emergence and to extend Sallah greetings.
Yassar commended Governor Yusuf and the deputy governor for their support to members of the council and their commitment to grassroots development.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to meet with Your Excellency and we pray for the success of your administration. We also appreciate the support and concern shown to CRC members across the state,” he said.
He noted that the council had continued to implement programmes in education, healthcare and social welfare aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.
“The CRC remains committed to interventions in education, healthcare and community development. We, however, seek sustained government support to strengthen our operations and enable us to do more at the grassroots level,” Yassar added.
