Kano State Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, has commended constituency representatives for supporting women, youths and small business operators through empowerment programmes.
Garo spoke on Saturday while representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at empowerment programmes held in Dambatta and Bichi Local Government Areas of the state.
At Dambatta, he attended the eighth Mega Empowerment Programme organised by the member representing Dambatta/Makoda Federal Constituency, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.
Beneficiaries received cars, motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, water pumps and cash assistance for various economic activities.
Garo commended Chidari for sustaining the programme, noting that the assistance had reached different groups, particularly women and youths.
He said such interventions complemented the programmes of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf aimed at easing economic challenges and helping citizens build sustainable sources of income.
The deputy governor also highlighted government projects in Dambatta and Makoda, including electricity projects covering about eight wards, road construction and developments in the education sector.
He pledged 10 wheelchairs for persons living with disabilities in the constituency and said further programmes targeting women and youths would receive government attention.
Garo urged the beneficiaries to use the items and funds for their intended purposes, saying they should make them useful to their families and communities.
He also called on the beneficiaries, their families, supporters and well-wishers to support APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
Chidari said the latest intervention was the eighth in a series of empowerment programmes through which constituents had received cars, motorcycles, tricycles, sewing and grinding machines, as well as cash assistance.
He said, “We have continued to provide empowerment and constituency projects to improve the lives of our people,” adding that projects had also covered classrooms, boreholes, roads and educational sponsorship.
At Bichi, an empowerment programme organised by the member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, targeted more than 2,000 small and medium-scale enterprises.
Beneficiaries received support for businesses involving fish trading, broiler production and tea loaf, while Garo urged them to put the assistance to good use, expand their businesses and improve their earnings.
