The Katsina State Executive Council has approved the construction of township roads in Bakori, Mashi and Malumfashi Local Government Areas as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure across the state.
The State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Sani Magaji Ingawa, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the Executive Council meeting.
He said the road projects include the dualisation of a 3.0-kilometre road in Mashi, the construction of a 6.67-kilometre township road in Bakori, and a 10.7-kilometre township road in Malumfashi.
According to the commissioner, the projects are part of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration’s commitment to expanding and improving road infrastructure across towns and cities in the state.
“The road projects will improve connectivity, facilitate economic activities and enhance the quality of life of residents in the benefiting communities,” Ingawa said.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mannir Ayyuba Sullubawa, said the council approved the award of a contract for the supply of water to Rimi and Safana townships as an addendum to the Zobe Phase 1B Water Supply Project.
He explained that the project is aimed at ensuring equitable distribution of potable water to the affected communities.
Sullubawa further disclosed that the council approved the award of contracts for the execution of the 2026 flood and erosion control projects across 37 communities in the state.
According to him, the intervention is designed to mitigate the impact of flooding in communities identified by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) as being vulnerable to flood risks.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, said the council also received an advocacy delegation from the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum aimed at strengthening the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Katsina State.
She stated that Governor Dikko Umaru Radda signed a communiqué reaffirming the state government’s unwavering commitment to building a safer, more inclusive and equitable society where women and girls can live free from violence, intimidation, abuse and discrimination.
