Katsina state government has imposed 24 24-hour curfew in the Dutsinma local government area.
The government also imposed a curfew from 7 am to 7 pm for all parts of the state.
The secretary to the state government Abdullahi Garba Faskari announced the government’s decision in a statement issued to newsmen.
According to the statement, the government has banned unusual gatherings and all types of protests across the state.
The statement said the decision followed an emergency State Security Council meeting on the reported breakdown of law and order during the protest.
It said the government noted with concern on the report by miscreants who hijacked the protest and looted properties.
“Therefore, the government find it necessary to impose a curfew to safeguard people’s lives and properties in the state,” the statement added.
