The Katsina state chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has formally sworn in Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi as its new chairman.

He was sworn in alongside other elected officials of the party at the PDP secretariat in Katsina following the state congress that was held a fortnight ago.

In his inaugural address, Amadi commended the PDP leadership at the national level under the chairmanship of Alhaji Umar Iliyasu Damagum, who is leading the party at a very critical period.

Amadi also expressed appreciation to Sen. Yakubu Lado who led the party to victory in the 2023 general elections.

He noted that it was Senator Lado’s leadership of the party that enabled it to win the Presidential and some National Assembly elections in the state during the elections.

He said Senator Yakubu Lado has also provided a credible opposition in this state and made the party strong while ensuring the welfare of its members.

The newly sworn-in PDP chairman said his leadership will focus on four cardinal areas which are ensuring unity among the party members, enforcing Law and order, entrenching internal democracy and providing a level playing field for all contestants in the 2027 general elections.

He called on PDP leaders, chieftains, stakeholders and members in the state to support and cooperate with the new party leadership in order to move the party fforwardthe chairman of the Caretaker Committee that organized the PDP congresses in the state, Alhaji Musa Abdulkarim Makarfi, submitted the handover notes to the new chairman who was subsequently escorted to his office by dozens of supporters.
