Katsina State Government has signed a long-awaited Social Protection Policy document to address the menace of poverty, unemployment and Societal ills.
The State Commissioner of Budget, Bello Kagara, revealed this at a 5-day training workshop for the effective implementation of Social Protection activities for selected ministries and 34 Local government areas.
Kagara said the Social Protection Policy will serve as a tool that provides a framework for providing Social equality and economic growth.
His words: “It helps in addressing unemployment, socio-economic vulnerability and other threats to sustainable development and economic stability.”
He said the aim of the training is for effective implementation of Social Protection activities across the state.
He said resource persons are selected to equip the participants with knowledge and skills to achieve the target objective of the training.
Meanwhile, desk officers are appointed in local government areas to ensure the implementation of the Social Protection Policy.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget, Shehu Maikano, handed over the letters to them, urging them to work towards implementation of the policy.
He said currently, the government is implementing Social Protection activities in ministries, departments, and local government. Participants of the training commended the government for providing them with the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.
