From John Bassey, Kebbi
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has commended the member representing Arewa/Dandi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Garba Rabiu Kamba, for empowering constituents and executing projects across the constituency.
The governor gave the commendation on Monday at the Local Government Secretariat in Kamba during the distribution of empowerment items to beneficiaries.
Idris described the lawmaker as a man of integrity with a proven record of service and community development, adding that the initiative was aimed at delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
He said such interventions would complement government efforts in meeting the needs of citizens.
“The hand of the governor cannot reach everywhere, but through democracy and collective leadership, the needs of the people can be effectively addressed,” he said.
The governor noted that the items distributed were meant to improve livelihoods and support economic activities in the constituency.
He, however, warned beneficiaries against selling the items, stressing that they were strictly meant for empowerment purposes.
“Anyone found selling the items, as well as those purchasing them, will be arrested and prosecuted,” Idris said.
He advised those unwilling to make use of the items to reject them so they could be reassigned to more deserving beneficiaries.
The governor also directed security agencies to monitor the distribution process to ensure compliance, adding that it would be unfair for anyone to deny others the opportunity to benefit.
Idris said the achievements recorded by the state government and elected representatives within less than three years were commendable.
He also appreciated Kamba for what he described as meaningful development projects in the constituency.
In his remarks, Kamba thanked God for the successful hosting of the programme, describing it as another step towards improving the lives of residents of Arewa and Dandi.
He said the initiative was inspired by the leadership style of Governor Idris, whom he said had prioritised development across Kebbi State.
“As representatives, we are guided to ensure that whatever support we secure at the federal level is brought back home to directly benefit our people,” the lawmaker said.
He listed items distributed to include five vehicles for local government chairmen, motorcycles for ward leaders, sewing machines, grinding machines, refrigerators for women and agricultural inputs.
Also speaking, the Ambassador-designate to Turkey and former Kebbi State Governor, Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, commended the pace of development under the current administration.
He urged residents to remain patient and supportive, assuring them that more developmental projects would be delivered in the coming years.
Earlier, the Chairman of the KECHEMA Governing Board, Abubakar Bala Gado, highlighted constituency projects executed by Kamba in education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural electrification and youth employment.
Items distributed during the event included five vehicles, 200 motorcycles, 200 deep freezers, 200 irrigation pumps and 200 chemical sprayers.
Governor Idris later performed the symbolic presentation of some of the items to selected beneficiaries.
