Kano State Government has approved the release of N6,776,175,102.07 for the execution of various projects across the state.
The known was made in an official statement released by the state Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the first special executive council meeting meant to deliberate on a presentation of a supplementary budget to augment the current fiscal year.
According to Dantiye, the council approved N1,777,321,292.24 for the Federal Government/ Universal Basic Education matching grant state counterpart funding 1st & 2nd quarters 2024, to be paid in quarterly instalments.
Also, approval was granted for the settlement of feeding to contractors of state boarding schools for twelve weeks of the 2nd term 2023/2024 academic session, amounting to N1,092,441,968.50.
He added that the council approved N612,400,848.32 for the settlement of feeding to contractors of state boarding schools for six weeks of the 3rd term 2023/2024 academic session.
The Commissioner further explained that the council has approved the sponsorship of female students and inmate candidates for BECE/BEICE and SSQE/SAISQE/TAHFEEZ examinations, 2024 amounting to N263,381,500.00

The council approved the maintenance of critical sections of road along Panshekara/Madobi junction -Panshekara town at the cost of N860,374,167.66.
Baba Halilu maintained that another approval has been granted for the maintenance of failed sections of road at Kwanar Dawaki along Zaria road amounting to N357,237,085.00; maintenance of failed sections of road at Dangwauro bridge along Zaria road at the cost of N32,815,896.27.
The council has also approved N1,503,467,800.00 for the provision of school uniforms to enrolled Primary 1 pupils across the state; and lastly, approval for the general renovation works and laying of Artificial Turf Grasses at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, at the sum of N276,734,544.
