The Nasarawa State Government has firmly refuted allegations that protesters in the state hoisted the Russian flag during a recent nationwide protest.
This denial comes in response to an editorial published by an online medium that listed Nasarawa among the northern states where the alleged incident occurred.
In an official statement, the government described the claims as “false, misleading, and mischievous.
According to the statement, the turnout for the protest in Nasarawa State was notably low, as most of the demands made by protesters had already been addressed by Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, with support from the Federal Government through various palliative measures.
The government further clarified that the few individuals who participated in the protest, mainly underaged children, were closely monitored by security agents to maintain order.
At no point, the government emphasized, did the protesters hoist a Russian flag.
The Nasarawa State Government urged the public to disregard the false reports and reassured citizens of its commitment to Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty.
The statement concluded by encouraging the public to remain law-abiding and supportive of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for the continued development of the state.
