The Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has declared that no force can stop the New Nigeria People’s Party from winning the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Gwarzo made the assertion on Monday in Kaduna while leading the NNPP North-West Zonal Congress at the party’s zonal secretariat along Ahmadu Bello Way, where he also affirmed the newly elected zonal executive members and received party stakeholders from across the region.
Speaking further, he recalled that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf won the 2019 governorship election by a wide margin but was denied victory, alleging that the then Federal Government, with the backing of security agencies, manipulated the outcome.
“We won 43 out of the 44 local government areas. Even in the remaining one, we won nine out of 10 wards, but the mandate was forcefully taken away,” he said, stressing that the party would not allow such a situation to recur.
Gwarzo dismissed claims by opposition elements that even if the NNPP won future elections, its mandate would be forcefully taken away.
He said some political actors had gone as far as alleging that the President was determined to take Kano at all costs, but insisted that such threats would not intimidate the party or its supporters.
“We hear people saying that even if we win, they will snatch the victory from us. Some even claim that the President has said he wants Kano and will not let it go. But they forget that the President is not God. Above him is God, and it is before God that we all stand,” the deputy governor said.
He expressed strong confidence that the same divine support that secured the party’s victory in the 2023 general elections would see it through again in 2027, stressing that political power ultimately comes from God and the will of the people.
“The God who granted us victory in the 2023 elections will, by His grace, grant us victory again in 2027,” Gwarzo added.
The deputy governor also reaffirmed the unwavering loyalty of the NNPP leadership and members to the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing him as the backbone of the party’s success across the North and beyond.
According to him, the NNPP’s strategic political planning under Kwankwaso’s leadership led to major electoral victories, including winning Kano State, securing two senatorial seats, and clinching seats in the House of Representatives in Jigawa and Taraba states.
Gwarzo said the party’s influence would continue to expand gradually, expressing optimism that the NNPP was on a steady path to becoming a dominant political force at the national level.
“By the grace of God and with sustained unity and strategy, we will continue to grow, and step by step, we will win Nigeria,” he said.
