Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria, is set to host the 15th West Africa University Games (WAUG), scheduled to hold from October 2 to 12, 2026.
The prestigious university sporting event will bring together student-athletes and universities from across the West African sub-region, reinforcing the values of unity, excellence, and sportsmanship among institutions of higher learning.
Ahead of the competition, the Local Organising Committee has officially unveiled the WAUG mascot and logo, designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Ile-Ife while representing the unity and competitive spirit of university sports in West Africa.
The 2026 WAUG will feature competitions across 17 sporting disciplines, with participation expected from universities across the region.
Universities interested in taking part in the Games have been encouraged to complete their preliminary registration through the official WAUSF registration platform as preparations gather momentum.
