Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has called for collaboration between his government and the Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) to improve connectivity across critical institutions and agencies within the state.

During a meeting with NIGCOMSAT’s Managing Director, Mrs. Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, held at the Katsina Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, recently, Governor Radda emphasized that this collaboration is crucial to unlocking the state’s economic potential.

The Governor also stressed the importance of strong partnerships between federal and state agencies, outlining several projects initiated by his government that would benefit from enhanced connectivity.

According to him, “this includes: equipping model schools with 24/7 internet access, ensuring reliable internet connectivity in seven major hospitals, etablishing an ICT center to empower young people, setting up the Katsina Geographical Information Centre (KGIS)and implementing e-learning platforms.”

Radda also noted the link between poverty and insecurity, suggesting that improved internet access can empower young people by providing opportunities for economic advancement through online ventures.

The Governor further envisioned a more digitalized civil service with less reliance on paper-based processes and a shift towards computer-based operations.

Earlier in her brief remarks , Mrs.  Egerton-Idehen had expressed NIGCOMSAT’s interest in exploring mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in agriculture and rural internet connectivity. She praised the governor’s warm reception and his state’s engagement with NIGCOMSAT services.
