Residents of Dadin Kowa community in Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State have called for greater attention to the challenges facing rural communities, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, social amenities, and economic opportunities.
This was highlighted by journalist and community reporter, Maryam Usman Nagado, during a grassroots assessment visit to the community aimed at documenting the living conditions and concerns of rural dwellers.
According to her, the visit went beyond a routine media assignment, as it provided an opportunity to interact directly with residents and gain deeper insight into their daily realities.
She noted that many rural communities continue to struggle silently with inadequate infrastructure, limited access to essential services, and insufficient development opportunities, despite their importance to national development.
Maryam explained that the voices of rural dwellers deserve to be heard, adding that their concerns should remain part of national discussions on governance and development.
She further stated that journalists have a responsibility not only to report events but also to serve as a bridge between citizens and decision-makers by highlighting issues affecting underserved communities.
The report, she said, focuses on bringing attention to the real-life experiences, hopes, and challenges of people at the grassroots level, where many untold stories remain.
Residents of the area expressed hope that increased media attention and government intervention would help address some of the pressing needs confronting the community.
