The member representing Tarauni Local Government Area in the Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Dahiru Sule (ADS), has sponsored the enrollment of more than 60 children into Unguwa Uku Primary School, Gidan Gona, as part of efforts to promote education in the constituency.
The initiative, according to the council’s Information Officer, Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro, targets orphans and children from less privileged families whose parents could not afford enrollment at the start of the new academic term. The support package also covered the cost of school uniforms for the pupils.
Speaking at the flag-off, the lawmaker, represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Auwal Umar Baba, said the gesture was part of a broader plan to ensure no child in Tarauni is left behind in education. He noted that similar interventions would continue across all ten wards of the constituency.
The Chairman of the Contact Committee of Tarauni LG, Kabiru Isah Usman, commended the intervention, describing it as a fulfillment of campaign promises and in line with the education policy of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kwankwasiyya movement, both of which prioritize education as a tool for social development.
In his remarks, Habib Umar, Special Adviser on Education to the lawmaker, urged parents and community members to continue supporting efforts to give children access to quality education, stressing that “education is the foundation for societal progress.”
The Head Teacher of Unguwa Uku Primary School, Mallam Habibu Abdullahi, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for enrolling orphans and children from poor homes, as well as providing school uniforms. He called on other leaders and philanthropists to emulate the gesture.
The event drew notable personalities, including Abba Wada, chairman of Social Media for the Assembly member and adviser to the LG chairman on social media, as well as S.A. Marshall, Rabiu Lawan Kaji and other political associates in the area.
