The Kano State Commissioner for Works, Engr.Marwan Ahmad, says the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has recorded remarkable achievements in infrastructure development over the past three years, with projects spread across virtually every sector and community in the state.
Speaking during an interview with journalists in Kano, the commissioner described the government’s performance as a reflection of Governor Yusuf commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and improving the living conditions of residents through strategic investments in public infrastructure.
According to Engr. Ahmad the Ministry of Works and its agencies have played a central role in implementing the administration’s development agenda, overseeing projects that range from road construction and bridge development to public buildings, street lighting and traffic management systems.
He explained that the government has undertaken the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of numerous public facilities, including schools, court buildings and other critical structures aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening public institutions.
The commissioner disclosed that the administration has also prioritized the provision of solar-powered streetlights and other electricity-related projects, describing them as essential investments that are helping to improve security and create a more conducive environment for businesses and residents.
Among the major urban renewal initiatives, he said, is the installation of traffic lights at 30 strategic junctions across Kano metropolis, a project designed to modernize transportation management and address growing traffic challenges within the city.
Engr. Ahmad revealed that while work is nearing completion on 17 roads awarded during the first phase of the administration road development programme, contracts have already been awarded for 12 additional roads to further expand the state’s transportation network.
He noted that the Tal’udu and Dan Agundi bridge projects are making steady progress and have already begun easing movement for commuters and motorists. The projects, he added, are now at an advanced stage, with only finishing works remaining before their official completion.
The commissioner further highlighted the significance of the Janguza-Karaye Road project, saying it will open up economic opportunities for residents of several local government areas by improving connectivity, facilitating trade and reducing travel time between communities.
Reflecting on the administration’s overall achievements, Engr. Ahmad pointed to the completion of five-kilometre roads in all 44 local government areas, alongside major routes such as Rogo-Mahangi, Albasu-Dutse, Madobi-Kiru and Dambatta-Ghari.
He maintained that Governor Yusuf’s development initiatives have reached every part of Kano State, demonstrating a clear commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development.
