The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS) is to commence collection of tenement rate in the state soon.
ZIRS Executive Chairperson, Hajiya Rakiya Ahmed Dodo stated this while speaking in a Zamfara Radio Weekly Phone-in Programme ” Da ruwan ciki akan ja na Rijiya.”
Hajiya Dodo who was represented by the Director Other Taxes, Alhaji Mu’azu Ibrahim Bungudu said, all arrangements have been concluded for the commencement of the exercise.
According to the chairperson, tenement rate was previously been collected by the local government councils but now state revenue service was mandated with the responsibility.
She further said, tenement rate collection affects only commercial activities.
Hajiya Rakiya Ahmed Dodo added that, the collection of the tenement rate was aimed at boosting the Internally Generated Revenue of the state for government to be able to continue executing developmental projects as well as fighting insecurity in the state.
During the programme many callers from different locations of the state called and contributed for the benefit of the teeming taxpayers across the state.
The programme was attended by the Director Information and intelligence gathering, Alhaji Hadi Bawa, Deputy Directors of other taxes and Information Departments among others.
