Adamawa State Police command and stakeholders have agreed to shun the rising issue of the proposed and alleged hoodlums being recruited for the proposed protest by faceless groups nationwide.
Speaking at the meeting, the Comqmissioner of Police Adamawa State command CP Dankombo Morris represented by DCP Fakeye Olubumi at the Town Hall meeting with stakeholders traditional leaders, religious leaders and other organizations to dialogue on the proposed protest.
The Commissioner of Police Adamawa state stated this during the town hall meeting which took place at the Police Officers’ mess in Yola, the state capital.
Dankombo revealed that the intelligence report at the disposal of the Force said that foreign mercenaries and faceless bodies have been invited to participate in the protest coming up on August 1st to 10th August 2024.
Adamawa State Police Boss therefore employed the people of the state to shun the plan for the protest saying that the motive behind the protest was to disrupt the peace in Adamawa.
Speaking also at the meeting, Adamawa state Governor, Ahmad Umaru Fintiri who was represented by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor for Peace and Community Security Ahmed Lawal said the government and its people are against the proposed plan to protest nationwide therefore, anything outside peace of the state will never be tolerated.
He noted that why is that, the organisers of the proposed protest are not showing up their faces to dialogue however, the Adamawa state government will be behind its people.
Responding to a question in an interview, Ahmed. Lawal said, nobody is disputing the human right of protest but who are these faceless people, let them come out as both the federal and state governments are ready to dialogue with them.
Also, the chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress. (NLC) Adamawa state chapter, Comrd Emmanuel Fashe advised the youths to shun violence while they protest. And said the state of the nation is truthfully not balanced as the gap between the poor and the rich is so wide, “government should hasten up to bridge the gap between the poor and the rich”, she said.
On his part, the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Northeast president remarked that the Nigerian Students are seriously suffering from this economic breakdown and promised that students will not be part of the faceless planned protest.
During a town hall meeting, Hussaini Gambo Bello Nakura the National Coordinator of Northern Youth Peace and Reconciliation Forum also doubled State Chairman Adamawa Concern Citizen Foundation said he is not supporting the planned protest so also he is calling on the Youth to distance themselves not to allow these faceless bodies involve them in the proposed protest.
Others are the representative of the Mubi Emirate Council, Magajin Mubi despite the traditional rulers not supporting the protest, traditions instituted should be reconsidered and very important information should be used.
Haima Hayatu, the zone 3 Coordinator Of Women Committee PCRC said any crisis or protest, the Women are the receiving end of violence in the society and therefore called on the Youth to avoid participating in the protest which may lead to anarchy.
