The Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) has raised alarm over the rising number of prostate and breast cancer cases in the country.
The concern was voiced at their recent General Meeting held at the Katsina General Hospital.
Saidu Ibrahim, Chairman of the PPFN’s Katsina branch, highlighted reports indicating a daily increase in cancer patients across Nigeria.
He expressed the organization’s deep worry due to the high death toll associated with these diseases.
He further pledged to focus its efforts on eradicating these cancers and minimizing the suffering of affected individuals.
Mr. Ibrahim announced plans for medical outreach programs to provide much-needed medical assistance to mothers and children displaced by banditry activities in Katsina.
The PPFN also issued an appeal to Nigerians, encouraging them to volunteer their time and contribute towards humanitarian assistance for vulnerable populations.
Re-Elections and Continued Support
The meeting saw the re-election of Saidu Ibrahim as Chairman for a second term, demonstrating the members’ continued trust in his leadership. Additionally, Wasila Sani Saulawa, the National President of PPFN, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to aiding women and other Nigerians suffering from various health issues.
Mrs. Saulawa also commended the members for their mature conduct and cooperation during the meeting.
The re-election of Hadiza Aminu and Rabi Mashi as State Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, further solidifies the leadership within the Katsina branch.
This news indicates a multi-pronged approach by PPFN. They aim to tackle the growing cancer crisis while offering immediate relief to those affected by banditry in Katsina.
The organization’s call for volunteers further highlights their dedication to improving the health and well-being of Nigerians nationwide.
