The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Murtala Sule Garo, has congratulated Muslims on the commencement of the Islamic New Year 1448AH, urging them to embrace the values of peace, unity and devotion to Allah.
Garo made the call in a message issued to mark the beginning of the new Hijrah year, where he also extended his felicitations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Muslim Ummah.
He described the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a significant event that offers lessons on faith, sacrifice, patience and steadfastness.
According to him, Muslims should use the occasion to reflect on the teachings of Islam and strengthen their commitment to peaceful coexistence and brotherhood.
“The Hijrah remains a source of inspiration for all believers. It teaches us the virtues of sacrifice, perseverance, faith and total submission to the will of Allah,” Garo said.
He urged Muslims to renew their commitment to promoting understanding, unity and harmony within their communities.
The deputy governor noted that the Islamic New Year provides an opportunity for spiritual reflection and renewal, calling on the faithful to pray for sustained peace, progress and prosperity in Kano State and Nigeria.
“As we begin the year 1448AH, I urge all Muslims to pray for peace, stability and development in our state and the country at large. We must continue to uphold the values that unite us as a people,” he said.
Garo also prayed for Allah’s guidance, mercy and blessings throughout the new Islamic year.
“May Almighty Allah accept our prayers and grant us goodness, peace and prosperity in the year ahead,” he added.
He further called on residents of Kano State to use the public holiday declared by the state government to pray for enduring peace and the success of the administration of Governor Yusuf.
