Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude (SAN), has commenced a full investigation into the alleged assault of Rabi Hamza Danladi Nasidi, a case that recently drew widespread public attention in the state.
Maude met with the victim at his office in the Ministry of Justice on Thursday, shortly after returning from a three-day official engagement in Abuja. Rabi was accompanied by her husband, Hamza Ado, and her brother, Nura Hamza.
During the meeting, the victim’s husband reportedly provided a detailed account of the incident, including the extent of injuries sustained by his wife and concerns regarding the handling of the matter prior to the intervention of the state government.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice Public Relations Officer, Najib Lawan Danbazau, the Attorney-General carefully listened to the complaints and documented all the issues raised.
The engagement followed a directive from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who had earlier expressed serious concern over the incident and ordered a thorough and impartial investigation.
Maude reassured the public of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring justice and accountability, stressing that the probe would be transparent and conducted strictly in accordance with the rule of law.
He added that anyone found culpable in the matter would be held accountable, regardless of social or political status.
The Attorney-General further affirmed that the safety, dignity, and protection of residents remain central to the administration’s justice agenda, reiterating that the state government would not tolerate any form of violence under Governor Yusuf’s leadership.
