The Kano State Government has commended the Nigerian Navy for its sustained investment in the training and capacity development of personnel, describing it as critical to strengthening national security and operational effectiveness.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, gave the commendation on Thursday while representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the combined graduation ceremony of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa.
The event featured the graduation of officers and ratings from five different courses, including the Logistics Officers’ Basic Course 37, Petty Officers Qualifying Course 48, Leading Seaman Qualifying Course 48, Basic Qualifying Course 56, and Basic Projects Qualifying Course 4.
Speaking at the ceremony, Garo described the graduation as a significant milestone in the careers of the officers and ratings who successfully completed their training programmes.
He said modern military operations require more than sophisticated equipment, stressing that logistics management, planning and effective leadership remain essential components of operational success.
“Today’s ceremony marks a major achievement in your professional careers. The successful completion of these courses reflects your dedication, discipline and commitment to service,” he said.
“Modern naval operations depend not only on equipment and technology but also on sound logistics, strategic planning and effective leadership. The skills and knowledge you have acquired here will enhance your ability to contribute meaningfully to operational effectiveness and combat readiness.”
The deputy governor urged the graduates to uphold the core values of honour, discipline, loyalty and selfless service as they return to their various units and formations.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Government to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security and national unity.
“Kano State Government will continue to support programmes and initiatives that strengthen national security, promote peace and foster unity among Nigerians,” he added.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Commodore A.A. Madawaki, described the graduation as another milestone in the history of the institution since its establishment in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
He congratulated the graduating officers and ratings for successfully completing their programmes and urged them to apply the knowledge acquired in service to the nation.
According to him, the training combined professional instruction with military discipline designed to build technical competence and leadership capacity.
“The knowledge and skills acquired during these courses are intended to prepare you for the complex demands of modern naval logistics and administration,” Madawaki said.
“The knowledge and values instilled in you are tools that should shape your character and guide your professional decisions throughout your careers.”
He charged the graduates to remain worthy ambassadors of the college and to demonstrate professionalism, integrity and excellence in the discharge of their duties.
In a related development, Garo inspected completed projects executed by the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Alhaji Muktar Anas Dan Maliki, in various parts of the council area.
