Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer Programme for recording remarkable achievements in transparency, operational efficiency, and wide beneficiary outreach across the state.
The Governor made the commendation while receiving the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, at the Government House, Kano, on Monday.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
Governor Yusuf disclosed that the programme has successfully reached a total of 609,013 beneficiaries across Kano State.
He further revealed that citizens living below the poverty line received a cumulative sum of N48,276,150,000 under the initiative.
“This achievement reflects the programme’s far-reaching commitment to poverty alleviation, social inclusion, and economic empowerment,” the Governor stated.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Wali Sani (mni), the Governor urged beneficiaries to regard the support not merely as temporary relief, but as a foundation and catalyst for sustainable growth and self-reliance.
He also expressed appreciation to the Minister, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, for his visionary leadership, dedication, and unwavering support towards the successful implementation of the National Social Safety Net Project–Scale Up (NASSP-SU).
Earlier, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, said he led a delegation from the Ministry to engage with key stakeholders and beneficiaries in order to assess the progress and impact of the programme in the state.
He noted that the total funds disbursed to Kano beneficiaries surpass the combined allocations to four other states, commending the Kano State Government for upholding transparency and accountability in the implementation process.
In her welcome address, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi (HOD), confirmed that the programme is progressing smoothly, adding that beneficiaries have continued to express deep appreciation for the intervention.
