The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the rescue of Fauziyah Muhammed, a 19-year-old 400-level student of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Ayingba, Kogi State. Fauziyah, who had been abducted, was found wandering naked in Ilorin on Monday.
To begin with, the English Education student was reportedly kidnapped in Ayingba between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
She was said to have been hypnotized and later abandoned in Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to Dr. Umar Muhammed, the NSCDC State Commandant, Fauziyah was discovered by residents of the Ajegunle-Isale community along Egbejila Road in Ilorin. Subsequently, locals provided her with clothing and handed her over to NSCDC officers for assistance.
“She appeared disoriented and traumatized, indicating that she had endured a harrowing experience during her abduction,” Dr. Muhammed stated.
Furthermore, efforts have been made to comfort Fauziyah, and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has pledged to facilitate her safe return to Kogi State.
The NSCDC plans to release her to her family representative, Mallam Salihu Aliu, in the coming days.
In an interview, Fauziyah recalled losing consciousness after dropping one of her books. However, she could not remember how she ended up in Kwara State.
In a separate but related incident, the NSCDC also paraded Abu Usman Soja, a suspected informant for kidnappers involved in the abduction of a woman and her two children in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, on November 7, 2024.
The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N50 million but later reduced it to N15 million. While the woman was released, the abductors escaped with her two children into the forest.
