Following the imposition of Curfew by the Plateau State Goovernor at the early hours of Monday by some miscreants came out again in their numbers in attempt to loot shops and business places within the Jos city but were prevented by the Police and Army.
The 4 days protest to #endbad governace in Nigeria in Plateau State was was peaceful in Jos and environs since protesters took to the streets last Thursday.
But sadly, the evening of the fourth day some miscreants started cousing confusion by breaking shops of business people and looting their items or properties, that was what led to the imposition of the 24 hours curfew within the Jos/BuKuru Metropolis last night by the Governor Barr.Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
There were reports, however, last Sunday of criminal elements, armed with daggers, machetes, and other dangerous weapons, who broke into shops and restaurants along Bauchi Road and Zololo Junction, looting foodstuffs and other valuable items.
Despite the imposition of the curfew attempts were made by miscreants at early hours of today, to break into shops and warehouses in some parts of Jos North.
The hoodlums who were in their numbers were armed with dangerous weapons were stopped by the police who pushed them back.p
As Police and the military move to enforce the curfew, most streets in Jos, the Plateau state capital, were empty of the usual bustling human and vehicular traffic.
The city center, Terminus, was a complete shadow of itself as all the shops, businesses and banks on Ahmadu Bello Way were closed.
It doesn’t appear likely that the 24-hour curfew would be reviewed as soon as was expected if the reported incidents in some parts of Jos North are anything to go.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Public Relation Officer DSP Alfred Alabo said the situation have been effectively contained for now and general area is relatively calm, while no arrest was made, but the are still looking for their ringleader.
