Fufore, the headquarters of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, recently witnessed a grand ceremony marking the installation of Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu as the first Emir of Fufore.
During the event, the new Emir was presented with the Second-Class Staff of Office, signifying his official recognition as the leader of the newly established Emirate.
The installation of Ribadu, who is now part of the recently created emirates and chiefdoms in Adamawa, reflects the government’s genuine intentions to strengthen traditional leadership and governance in the region.
Presenting the Staff of Office to the new Emir, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State noted that the creation of new emirates and chiefdoms was aimed at enhancing conflict resolution, improving local governance, and deepening democracy.
He emphasized that the move was driven by the government’s commitment to reposition traditional institutions for more effective governance.
Governor Fintiri also dismissed any negative interpretations of the initiative, calling such views “imaginations far removed from our genuine intentions.”
He congratulated Emir Ribadu, urging the people of Fufore Emirate to support their new leader in building and developing the area.
The Governor highlighted that Ribadu’s appointment was based on merit and encouraged him to lead with wisdom, promote unity, and strengthen local security through intelligence gathering.
In his acceptance speech, Emir Sani Ahmadu Ribadu expressed deep gratitude to Governor Fintiri for the honor and pledged to serve the people of Fufore with dedication. He committed to upholding the values of leadership and working towards the progress and prosperity of the Emirate.
The Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, conveyed his congratulations through the Galadima Adamawa, Alhaji Murtala Aminu, who also wished the new Emir divine guidance in his new role.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Alhaji Abubakar Bobboi Jijiwa, thanked Governor Fintiri for creating the Emirate and expressed appreciation to everyone who attended the historic ceremony.
Additionally, the Chairman of Fufore Local Government Council, Alhaji Shuaibu Babas, pledged full support to ensure the success of Emir Ribadu in his leadership.
A goodwill message was also delivered by Elder Statesman Chief Joel Madaki, who emphasized unity and collective progress in the Emirate.
The Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Barr. Hafsat Abdurrahman, administered the oath of office to Emir Sani Ahmadu Ribadu.
The occasion was attended by distinguished guests from across Nigeria, as well as neighboring countries, including Cameroon, Niger, and Central African Republic.
