The Kano State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, has said that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has delivered unprecedented infrastructure development across the state, describing the achievements recorded within the last three years as visible evidence of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens.
Speaking during an interview with journalists in his office, Engr. Ahmad stated that since Governor Yusuf assumed office, numerous projects have been executed across various sectors, stressing that every patriotic resident of Kano can attest to the remarkable transformation taking place throughout the state.
The commissioner explained that the Ministry of Works serves as the backbone of many government projects through its three major operational departments, alongside several agencies under its supervision, including the Fire Service, Kano Road Maintenance Agency (KARMA), and other affiliated institutions.
According to him, the present administration came into office with a clear vision to rebuild and modernize critical infrastructure across the state.
He noted that the ministry has undertaken extensive construction and rehabilitation projects, including the maintenance and development of school facilities, judicial court buildings, cemeteries, and other public structures.
Engr. Ahmad further disclosed that the government has implemented several special intervention projects aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
These include investments in street lighting and solar-powered electricity systems designed to reduce energy costs and improve public safety across communities.
He revealed that one of the landmark projects of the administration is the installation of traffic lights at 30 major junctions within Kano metropolis to improve traffic management and enhance road safety.
The commissioner also announced that the state government has awarded contracts for an additional 12 road projects following the near completion of the first phase involving 17 roads across different parts of the state.
Providing an update on the Tal’udu and Dan Agundi bridge projects, Engr. Ahmad stated that the projects have reached about over 95 percent completion and are already benefiting residents.
He explained that the remaining work consists largely of finishing touches, including painting and minor adjustments before full completion.
On the strategic Janguza-Karaye road project, the commissioner emphasized its economic significance, noting that the road will serve residents from at least five local government areas and boost transportation, commerce and inter-community connectivity.
He maintained that Governor Yusuf’s development agenda has touched virtually every sector of the state’s economy and social infrastructure, adding that the achievements recorded within three years have earned widespread public recognition.
“There is hardly any sector that has not benefited from the intervention of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The scale of development across Kano is enormous, and it would be difficult to fully capture all the projects and achievements within a single discussion,” he said.
The commissioner highlighted the completion of the five-kilometre road projects in all 44 local government areas of Kano State, noting that the roads were delivered with modern street lighting facilities to improve mobility and security for residents.
He also identified four major inter-local government road projects currently being executed by the state government.
These include the Rogo-Mahangi Road, Albasu-Dutse Road, Madobi-Kiru Road, and Dambatta-Ghari Road. According to him, the roads are strategically designed to connect multiple local government areas and strengthen links with neighbouring states.
Engr. Ahmad reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Government to sustaining the pace of development, assuring residents that more people-oriented projects would be delivered as the administration continues to pursue its infrastructure renewal agenda.
He stressed that the government remains focused on creating a modern, connected and economically vibrant Kano capable of meeting the aspirations of its growing population.
