Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to intensifying efforts to combat school dropout, bullying, child labour, child trafficking, and all forms of abuse that threaten the future, dignity, and wellbeing of children in the state.
In his message to mark the 2026 Children’s Day, which coincided with Eid-el-Kabir, the Governor said the Child Rights Act as domesticated in Plateau State remains a critical legal and moral framework for safeguarding the rights, welfare, dignity, and protection of every child.
Governor Mutfwang described children as the greatest treasure of any society and the foundation upon which a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive future is built.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing bright minds and building promising futures through sound, quality, and affordable education that prepares children for global competitiveness in an evolving world.
The Governor stressed that no child in Plateau State should be denied access to education, adding that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and realize their full potential.
He further noted that his administration will continue to invest strategically in the education sector through improved learning infrastructure, teacher development, digital innovation, expanded access to quality education, and policies that promote the intellectual, moral, and social development of children across the state.
Governor Mutfwang also emphasized the importance of instilling moral values such as discipline, integrity, compassion, patriotism, and the fear of God, noting that these remain essential for responsible living, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
He called on parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to work collectively in shaping the character and future of children, stressing that the destiny of every society depends on how well it nurtures its younger generation.
The Governor assured Plateau children of continued opportunities and an enabling environment where every child, regardless of background, can dream, learn, grow, and achieve their God-given potential.
He congratulated children across the state and Nigeria on the occasion of Children’s Day, praying for God’s guidance, protection, wisdom, and abundant blessings as they grow into responsible leaders and worthy ambassadors of Plateau State and the nation.
